Introducing Split PT!
With climbing and mountaineering season quickly approaching it’s time to assemble our team! In an effort to improve the athlete experience we’ve teamed up with the Split PT himself, Joe Vogel. Joe is an avid split boarder and movement specialist. He’s bringing a lot to the table in both categories. We’re deeply grateful for Joe’s support and enthusiasm for the work of Casaval Personal Training and are looking forward to a long and fulfilling partnership!
Hey everyone! My name is Joe and I am excited to be brought on as a part of Casaval PT!
Like Dane, I also have an innate passion to help others progress as athletes. As a physical therapist my career revolves around enhancing the movement experience to help improve overall quality of life, meaning help people move in their environment well without pain. Improving the movement experience also has a high relationship with injury prevention.
I grew up playing lacrosse and soccer, but after college transitioned into more of the backcountry athlete I am today. During grad school at the University of Vermont was when I started my splitboarding career and have largely been addicted ever since! Being new to the sport of splitboarding while studying for my doctorate was an interesting blend because it got me thinking of movement mechanics, motor learning, and injury prevention in the backcountry.
What I look to bring to the table is my movement analysis skill set that emphasizes the sport specific mechanics to help the athlete get stronger and move better in the backcountry. By helping teach and practice sound movement mechanics it can help prevent bad movement habits from arising. There is a lot of sound evidence that specific movement mechanics can actually predispose the athlete to certain injuries, so if those movement patterns can be addressed in a preventative training then the odds of the injury occurring decrease exponentially.
Training is a huge part of who I am today and has helped me have a largely strong and healthy career. Minor injuries and setbacks arise along the way, but having a sound base to draw from as an athlete will help you only miss a weekend vs. a season due to injury. My goal is to share my profession and my passion with you all to help deliver some pretty fun and awesome training content!
Stay tuned for some sport specific movement training and education to add to your program!
